Survival camp had promised to push us to our limits and as the final day arrived, we would have it no other way. Like every other day, we reported to the gym at 7:15am for an IOT session on signals. We honed our signals to get them sharper and stronger.
We started the 4th day as any other day, with a meeting at the gym at 7:15 ΑΜ. Kuba and Marcin helped work on 3PO and on our jump balls.
We started the day in the gym at 07:15 AM. We had the opportunity to learn from Euroleague referees Kuba and Marcin, and FIBA referee Karol. They taught us the mechanics to correctly and efficiently move on fastbreaks while we had the possibility to practice them ourselves.
We kicked things off bright and early at 7:00 AM with intense sessions focused on 3PO mechanics. No snoozing allowed — from the first whistle, the pace was high and the expectations higher. Right after breakfast, we dived into a theory block with lectures on PPL and RD, which challenged both our knowledge and attention to detail.
This year’s camp is going to be very interesting and as you can see on our webpage we will have a great group of instructors, which is going to be even bigger in a way, that we have one more instructor who will help during and after the camp – Jose Anibal Carrion!

Jose wanted to join us this year in Walbrzych, but could not, but he got so much enthusiastic about the camp that he want to be with us remotely and offered his experienced help with analyzing together with you the video situations through our website before, during and after the camp. And he already said he is coming next year!
Jose is a FIBA referee from Puerto Rico, who is daily officiating University League in USA, and is also taking part in all big World competitions. He was present in Japan in 2006 and Turkey in 2010 for World Championships and he officiated Olympic Games 3 times in Athens, Beijing and lately in London. He has extensive knowledge of basketball rules and loves to work with video clips. He is perfect person to join OUR TEAM. As first time as a “remote instructor” 🙂

We are honored to host Mr Konrad Tomczyk, who will come to REFEREE.PL as a guest. Some of you may know him as he was many years Top Polish League and FIBA referee. But he is the most known as one of the best instructors, presenters and interpreters of the basketball rules in the history of Polish basketball. Kuba can tell you how his refereeing story began exactly because of this man.

Mr Tomczyk started to referee in 1967, he was officiating National Polish League from 1972 for 25 years being one of the best referees of his times. In the meantime he became FIBA referee in 1982. Mr Tomczyk officially finished his career in 1997 and many years was not taking active part in the basketball world, but following everything for himself/on his own. Now it came the time he decided to come back and pass his incredible feeling for basketball to younger refs. Please give him a warm welcome.
