Yesterday was a day of lectures, today will be a mixture of presentations and half a day of games.
So as tradition says we started with the morning FIBA run at 7 AM. Some guys went to run at 6… 🙂 Fitness is very important part of referee’s life.

So as tradition says we started with the morning FIBA run at 7 AM. Some guys went to run at 6… 🙂 Fitness is very important part of referee’s life.  

Straight after Kuba had a feedback session, with Jose and Costas, with the most important take away that gave the group the direction for today: Learn how to officiate OFF ball. We were watching videos from camp in Romania for the 3PO, main video and view from the 3 glasses: Lead, Trail, Center. This is incredible for the situations analysis and for the referee to understand and confirm with the view where exactly he is looking while officiating. These glasses are a great tool for calibrating yourself with the position and zones watching.

To prepare you for the games Petr was next with the presentation on how to do a good pre-game conference: check technical equipment, ball selection, team warm up observation, referee warm up, and post-game: did we succeed? ME – WE – GAME? We watched NBA referees pre game video that was very inspiring, and showed how professional USA referees treat every game.
More and more clips, Situations, we are learning from other people, meaning more clips watching with Costas. Major thing for all your next season: Clean the game!!! – Costas. Again were the criteria applied, advantage/disadvantage rule, or RSBQ – rhythm, speed, balance, quickness.

As today we had all instructors in one place there was time for the family picture 🙂 and we moved to officiate the games. Logistics are very complex, this time we play in 4 gyms, and there is a lot of good games to referee. Let’s see how the refreshed criteria and new pre-seasonal power will appear on the court!! Go go go!!! In the evening after the games there is also special slot for whoever wants to try running the pulsometer test with Konrad. Ufff I can say this was really long day, but no one expected differently.

Hurray!! We started the second session of REFEREE.PL of this year. Now we are in Radom. The basketball city of the Vice-Champion of Poland.

We kicked off the camp according to the agenda, waiting a moment for late arrivals. Kuba opened the session with the administration stuff, explaining the logistics, as we will play in 5 gyms, then all the instructors introduced themselves and all the campers said few words about themselves. We have a big group of 42 referees and 12 instructors.

Hurray!! We started the second session of REFEREE.PL of this year. Now we are in Radom. The basketball city of the Vice-Champion of Poland.

We kicked off the camp according to the agenda, waiting a moment for late arrivals. Kuba opened the session with the administration stuff, explaining the logistics, as we will play in 5 gyms, then all the instructors introduced themselves and all the campers said few words about themselves. We have a big group of 42 referees and 12 instructors.

Kuba started his lecture prepping refs for the camp: teamwork and how to better work together.

The Jose made an interactive session on: What is the first think that you look in a basketball referee when he enters the court and What is in your opinion the best quality of the basketball referee. Also pointing why are we here and presenting his philosophy of being like a sponge. So basically you shall observe as much as you can from this camp. We need to fight to get perfect in order to be excellent – Jose – Have serious goals, and keep thinking of your dreams. Jose also told us some facts from his career and we all agreed that Being a basketball referee is addictive, also we further discussed some quick tips & tricks to apply on your way for the development: Smart person knows what to say, wise person knows whether to say it or not.

Costas lecture was next. As usual we got strong, straight words coming from former boss of Euroleague. Control of the game is number 1. And mantra for the season: Consistency – same criteria to both sides at all time. No compromise. This is just couple of remarkable thoughts that I have collected here. Also Costas shared with us some coming changes in the rules, that will be only implemented as of 2017/2018 season: U foul principles, travel violation additions. We have watched together clips on contacts. Hearing clips being discusses by one of the legends in basketball refereeing is just something that we all appreciate a lot and it always makes an impression.

Rhythm, Speed, Balance, Quickness – elements of the contact

We left after for dinner, and evening session in the gym for the 3PO, Micio was leading the session explaining the secrets of proper movements on the court. We were practicing the toss, and proper movements in crews. Day finished at night, but we are full of power for the games which are starting tomorrow.

The second session of one of the most popular basketball referees camp in the world organized by Jakub Zamojski, international official, will take place this year in Radom. City Radom is very actively helping to develop interest in basketball with a great success. In Radom we can cheer for the top league team, current vice champion of Poland and Polish Cup winner from season 2015/2016 – Rosa Radom.

Radom is a city in east-central Poland with 219,703 inhabitants (2013). It is located 100 kilometers (62 miles) south of Poland’s capital, Warsaw, on the Mleczna River, in (as of 1999) the Masovian Voivodship, having previously been the capital of Radom Voivodship (1975–1998). Despite being part of the Masovian Voivodship, the city historically belongs to Lesser Poland. For centuries, Radom was part of the Sandomierz Voivodship of the Kingdom of Poland and the later Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. It was an important center of administration, having served as seat of the Crown Council. The Pact of Vilnius and Radom was signed there in 1401, and the Nihil novi and Łaski’s Statute were adopted by the Sejm at Radom’s Royal Castle in 1505. In 1976, it was a center of anti-Communist street protests.

The city is home to the biennial Radom Air Show, the largest and best-attended air show in Poland, held during the last weekend of August. “Radom” is also the popular unofficial name for a semiautomatic 9 mm Para pistol of Polish design (the Model 35/ViS-35) which was produced from 1935 to 1944 at the national arsenal located in the city. The Łucznik Arms Factory (still located in Radom) continues to produce modern military firearms.
The international Radom Jazz Festival and the International Gombrowicz Theater Festival are held in the city.

Radom to miasto, które bardzo aktywnie wspiera koszykowke. Możemy tu oglądać zawody na najwyższym Polskim poziomie, gra tutaj aktualny wice mistrz Polski oraz zdobywca Pucharu Polski w sezonie 2015/2016 – Rosa Radom.
